Cavan county board chairman, Philip Smith, has revealed that he will not be letting his name go forward for re-election at next month's county convention. Smith, who assumed the role in 2006, told county secretary Liam McCabe that he would be stepping down from his position for "personal reasons" but still aimed to keep involved with the Cavan GAA set-up. Nominations for the Kingscourt man's successor are expected to be sought from clubs within the next fortnight in time for the convention, which takes place on December 10 at Drumavaddy Community Centre.
