Cavan manager Tommy Carr
Tommy Carr was officially unveiled as the new Cavan senior football manager at a meeting in the Hotel Kilmore on Monday night.
The former Dublin skipper and manager, who lives in Mullingar, has been appointed for a three-year term. He takes over from Donal Keoghan, who stepped down in the wake of the Breffni County's All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Kildare in July.
Also linked last week to the vacancy in Meath, this will be Carr's first inter-county role since he resigned as Roscommon manager in March 2005. He managed Dublin between 1999 and 2001, but failed to deliver major silverware.
Carr saw off competition for the Cavan post from former Fermanagh and Sligo manager Dominic Corrigan and ex-Armagh star defender Justin McNulty. He received unanimous support from delegates when his name was put forward at a specially arranged meeting last Friday.
