Kingscourt Stars club notes

December 18, 2017

Seniors

The new senior management team for 2018 is Peter McKeon, Barry McArdle and Fra McPhillips. This was ratified at a committee meeting on Tuesday December 12th.  We would like to sincerely thank the outgoing manager Bernie Murray, coach Paul O'Connor and selectors M&F Farrelly and Gabriel Patterson for their supreme effort and commitment for the past 2 years.

Congratulations

Senior ladies player Aideen Bennett and senior player Darragh Gunne tied the knot last Friday. We  wish them many years of happiness together! We would also like to congratulate senior player Keith McCabe and Carlene McKeon who got engaged recently.

Charity Walk

Kingscourt Cancer Fund annual St Stephens Day Walk/Run will take place on 26th December at 12pm. The route will take in the Wishing Well Way and will start from Clarkes Corner. Register in Clarkes at 11.30 and entry will be €10.  Why not walk off the excesses of the Christmas period with a brisk walk whilst raising money for cancer patients in our community! Refreshments will be served for all the walkers in Clarkes.

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM will be held on Sunday January 7th at 5pm. Everyone with an interest in Kingscourt Stars at any level is welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing some new faces!

Stars/Cavan Merchandise

Wondering what to buy for the Star in your life? There is a huge range of Kingscourt and Cavan gear available at M&Fs. But hurry as stocks are selling FAST!!

Hurling

And that's a wrap! Another years hurling, our 9th, done. Lots of new hurlers joining with us especially at the younger ages. Our U12s won the Monaghan Div 2 league. Our U14s reached National Feile semi-final. Our older groups did not get the amount of games we would have liked but we are working on fixing that for 2018 so hang in there lads! Adult hurling is also nearly ready for lift off.

Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work again this year. It is a small but very dedicated crew who work, sometimes in conditions which can be very challenging, for the benefit of the boys and for their hurling development. Without them we could not function.

We have worked very hard over the years to lobby for new competitions to keep our boys hurling and we are hopeful that some new exciting announcements early in the new year will give hurling the big opportunity it has been waiting for. Watch this space.

Finally thanks to our players and their parents. We could not have one without the other so to our players thank you for all of your efforts and to your parents thanks for your continued support. It can be difficult locally sometimes to say you play hurling but if you stick with us over the years ahead not only will you be able to say you play hurling but that you are also very proud to play this great game of ours.

Happy Christmas from all of us at East Cavan Gaels GAA Hurling Club

 PRO

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of another year! Apart from our juvenile girls and boys, it wasn't a great year for silverware, however we have 2018 to look forward to! Christmas is a time for gratitude and hope for the future. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to run the club, and there are many people who give so generously of their time to make Kingscourt Stars the club it is. We sincerely thank all the parents, trainers, coaches, all who worked so hard to make Féile such a success, our caretakers, groundsman and committee members. Our AGM will be held on Sunday January 7th 2018 at 5pm, and if you feel like getting involved or having a say, you are very welcome to attend. At this time of year we also remember all our deceased members. Nollaig Shona daoibh go léir!
