The late Ambrose Hayden The people of Trinyland were saddened by the sudden death of Mr Ambrose Hayden at his home in Ballinacarrig on Sunday, December 17, 2006. Ambrose, who was aged 82 years, certainly belied his age and was a familiar face in the community and took an active interest in the local GAA, having been a keen footballer in his younger days. He was a member of the Leighlinbridge team which wont he Carlow Football Title in 1957. Ambrose was often seen in Dr Cullen Park following local and county teams both in football and hurling. Although a native of Old Leighlinbridge, Ambrose and his wife Eilish had lived in Ballinacarrig since 1961 and were prominent members of the local parish. Two of their children Edmond Hayden and Ruth Burke still live in Ballinacarrig with their own children. Edmond, a farmer would always say his father was like a good friend. Ambrose had a great love of the land and was a farmer all his life and liked nothing better than wandering the fields, checking his livestock and was involved in the day to day running of the farm until shortly before he passed away. For many years, Ambrose along with his wife Eilish (nee Townsend) were prominent fruit farmers with produce being sold both from home and on the Wexford Road. Remains were removed from R Healy and Son Funeral Home, Pollerton Castle on Monday, December 18, 2006 to St Joseph's Church, Trinyland. Funeral Mass took place at 11am on Tuesday and burial tool place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. He is survived by his wife Eilish, sons Edmond (Ballincarrig) and Ambrose (Carlow), daughters Catriona (Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow), Ruth (Ballinacarrig) and Joyce (Liverpool), brothers Fr John (former PP Myshall), Kevin (Old Leighlin), Eamonn (chicago), sisters May (Old Leighlin), Teresa Rice (Dublin) and Kitty Gaughan (Chicago), grandchildren Syl, David, Kate, Sean, Aoife, Roisin, Finola, Sinead, James, Laura, Aideen and Joseph, sons in law, daughters in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
