Hanrick, Ellen

November 17, 2006
The late Ellen Hanrick Deep and sincere regret was expressed at the death of Mrs Ellen Hanrick, which took place at the home of her son on November 2, 2006. Mrs Hanrick who was 88 years was a native of Craanmore and Kildavin and a member of a well known and prominent farming community there and in Bunclody in which she was greatly involved up to the time of her illness, and despite this she still kept up her interest in agricultural life right up to the end. A big hearted and popular woman, she always had a great love for the G.A.A. association which she had passed on to her sons and grandchildren all of whom are dedicated in all the Irish sports. She was elected president of the Half Way House Bunclody club many years ago and was ever present to support all the games right throughout the county. Her kind and generous nature endeared her to a host of friends and neighbours throughout Bunclody and also her home place in Craanmore. A deeply religious person Nellie as she was popularly known was ever in attendance at her religious duties. She will be sorely missed by her sorrowing family. A great show of respect not only by family and friends but of the Half Way House Bunclody G.A.A. club all of whom marched beside her remains to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody but once again the Half Way House Bunclody Club followed by the ladies football club and the Camogie Club formed a guard of honour and accompanied the cortege to her final resting place in Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Hanrick's remains were removed and received by Fr Jim Doyle. Mrs Hanrick is mourned by her sons Tom, Gerry, John, Pat, Martin, and her daughters Frances, Mary, her sister Lil Fagan, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
