Kennedy, Tom

March 31, 2006
The late Tom Kennedy Carlow is a poorer place following the death of Mr Tom Kennedy (75), The Elms, Athy Road, Carlow after a short illness. A native of Cournellan, Borris, Tom gave a life time of service to Carlow GAA as well as being a prominent businessman, running popular licensed premises The Beehive Bar on Tullow Street for over 30 years. He played hurling for Cournellan and football for Ballymurphy. He was in his 30th year as chairman of the Dr Cullen Park committee. During this time Mr. Kennedy oversaw the building of two new stands and other improvements. He was also Carlow's Central Council delegate for 13 years in the 70s and 80s. His removal took place with large crowds on both occasions. Our sympathies to his wide circle of family and friends. Courtesy of the Carlow Nationalist 31 March 2006
