Hickey laments poor start

April 20, 2016

Carlow minor manager Ken Hickey admits that they left themselves with a mountain to climb after a poor start in their Leinster MFC defeat to Louth.

The Barrowsiders trailed by 1-08 to 0-02 at the break, but to their credit they battled hard in the second half and outscored their opponents, but they still lost by 1-14 to 1-08.

Speaking to the Carlow Nationalist, Hickey said: "We didn't really start unfortunately. They got a few scores up on us and we didn't respond."

Carlow must now prepare for the qualifiers next week and Hickey added that they still had a lot to play for in the coming weeks.

"We have to put results on the board but we are still in the championship. It is not over and we have to get back on the horse."
