Antrim's Michael McCann has dismissed claims made by Carlow manager Turlough O'Brien in the wake of last Sunday's Allianz FL Division 4 game as 'nonsense'.

O'Brien accused the Saffrons of targeting his star forward Paul Broderick who was forced to leave the field before half-time but, speaking to The Belfast Telegraph, McCann hit back.

"The fact of the matter is we recognise that Paul Broderick is a good player and Conor Burke was detailed to mark him.

"To suggest that the player was targeted in any way is nonsense.

"Conor is a very good defender and we are certainly not a team that descends into unsavoury tactics."
