Old Leighlin manager Karl O'Dwyer has been impressed by Pat Hickey's performances this year.

The former champions needed a win against Eire Og and they achieved their goal in round three of the senior football championship.

O'Dwyer admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that the performance against Eire Og was better than it had been in the previous years.

"This was an improvement from the last night," said O'Dwyer. We were up for the game and we worked harder across the field.

"Pat Hickey is playing the best football I have seen him play in a long time. In fairness, they all played well."
