Scallon feared the worst

July 15, 2015

Mount Leinster Rangers manager Eamonn Scallan admitted that he feared the worst in the early exchanges of their opening SHC game against St Mullins.

The defending champions started brightly, but MLR battled back and won the game by four points to get off to the perfect start in the campaign.

"The way the game began I thought St Mullins were going to be starting with a comfortable win but we got to grips with it," Scallan told the Carlow Nationalist.

"The first goal was always going to be crucial. Fair dues to Paul (Coady). A long ball came in. It was hanging there, followed it in and got a touch. We will take those every day."
