Carlow under-21 manager Johnny Nevin knows that they will face a mammoth challenge when they take on Kilkenny in the Leinster SHC semi-final.

The sides meet at Dr Cullen Park this evening and Kilkenny will be red hot favourites to advance to the provincial decider where they will face either Offaly or Wexford.

And Nevin admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that they will have to move to a different level of performance if they are to have any chance.

"It will be a difficult assignment. We will have to strive to get to a different level of performance on the night and that is taking our mistakes out," said Nevin. "Look, we'll see how it runs and get a good start in the game."
