Carlow assistant manager Tommy Wogan has revealed that the players held a meeting on their own to discuss where they go from here.

Following the drubbing against Laois in the Leinster SFC, Carlow players were given a week away from the inter-county scene before returning to prepare for the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

Last Monday, the draw for the back door route was made and the Barrowsiders will face Longford in the opening round.

However, Wogan told the Carlow Nationalist that the players are keen to make amends for the poor showing against Laois last month.

"It is a good draw. At this stage, it is about getting back on track and getting a bit of confidence into the lads," said Wogan.

"It will be the same for both sides. They are after getting a going over from Dublin and will be trying to redeem themselves. We want to redeem ourselves as well after the poor performance against Laois."

He added: "They (players) knew that it wasn't good enough for all the time and effort that had gone into it on the field. They are anxious to set it right themselves. I think they will and will show they are not as bad as they appeared to be against Laois."
