St Mullins head into the unknown

St Mullins manager Anthony McCormack has played down speculation that his charges can emulate Mount Leinster Rangers' achievements last year.

MLR became the first Carlow club to win the Leinster club senior hurling championship in 2013 and St Mullins embark on their campaign with a trip to Mullingar where they will face Westmeath champions Raharney on Sunday afternoon.

However, McCormack feels that they are heading into the provincial series less experienced than MLR were by the time they won the title.

"The thing to remember is that Rangers had the experience of four Leinster campaigns. They had two intermediate years, and went on to win an All-Ireland," stated McCormack.

"They had a senior match in 2012. Then last year. It is not really comparing like with like. It is the first time for us going into Leinster."
