Eire Og selector John Kearns admits that indiscipline cost them in the Division 1 league final defeat to Old Leighlin.

The Carlow town side lost out on a scoreline of 0-18 to 0-07 in the final at Dr Cullen Park last weekend and they finished the match with 13 men as Derek Hayden and Fiach O'Toole were both sent off.

"We were depleted and we were using the game to experiment. That didn't happen when we lost the two men," Hayden told the Carlow Nationalist.

"Derek had his free and it isn't as if things were going against him. I'm baffled. There is no excuse really. It was just a bad night."
