Cats spur Carlow minors

Carlow minor manager Willie Quinlan
Carlow minor footballers prepared for the Leinster MFC by watching the Kilkenny hurlers train.

In an unlikely situation both squads trained at Carlow IT earlier in the season and Carlow trainer Willie Quinlan admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that they took time out of their training to watch the Cats' train.

"They were a great motivation," said Quinlan. "Brian Cody was supposed to be refereeing it. I didn't hear the whistle once. Players were running out over the line. Lads were not looking for free. They go, go and go until he blows the whistle to stop.

"Looking at them training, the message was clear. Anything you get, you deserve. It's about hard work."

Carlow head to O'Moore Park on Saturday afternoon where they will take on Laois in the opening round of the Leinster championship.
