Meaney expecting interesting SHC

April 25, 2012
Carlow chairman Michael Meaney feels that the current upsurge in hurling will add to the senior championship this year.

As the campaign prepares to kick off this weekend, Carlow hurling is on a crest of a wave following Mount Leinster Rangers' All-Ireland success and the Barrowsiders promotion to division 1B.

"Every year is a good championship because any of the teams can win it," said Meaney. Rangers have had a fantastic year. They have obviously raised the bar for everyone else to follow.

"The fact that we are going to be back in the senior club championship is a big step as well. Something that whoever wins, will rise too."
