Kevin Ryan believes Carlow can only improve from playing in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League next year.

Speaking after yesterday's historic Division 2A final victory over Westmeath in Nowlan Park, which means Carlow are now officially among the top 12 hurling teams in the country, the manager revealed: "We focused on this from the start of the year, even more than the championship.

"We hit a lot of wides and we should have converted a lot more as should Westmeath, but often times that happens in finals.

"Next season is going to be a huge challenge for Carlow to stay in 1B and that will be the aim. I think it is the league where you improve and progress." Tweet
