Ryan knows importance of win

Former Carlow hurling manager Kevin Ryan
Carlow manager Kevin Ryan believes a league final win is crucial to their future development.

The Barrowsiders take on rivals Westmeath in the division 2A final at Nowlan Park on Sunday afternoon and they will enter the match as favourites, although Ryan is taking nothing for granted.

"I still think we have a lot of potential," Ryan told the Carlow Nationalist. "A win on Sunday will be crucial to that. If we don't the world doesn't stop either, but it would move on the whole development as a panel if we were to get to 1B.

"If we don't we will still have a serious cut at Laois but would love to have the confidence of being a 1B side going into it. If we don't, we don't. I do think it would progress our whole development."
