Clubs fined for final fracas

January 05, 2012
The Carlow County Board have come down hard on the clubs involved in a fracas before the county senior hurling final.

Naomh Eoin and Mount Leinster Rangers were handed €1,000 for their part in the brawl that preceded the replay between the sides.

Initially, the clubs were fined €4,000, but on review that was reduced to €1,000. Both clubs have the option of an appeal, but this is unlikely to happen.

Mount Leinster Rangers went on to win the county final before going on to win the Leinster club intermediate hurling title.
