Carlow ace Walsh emigrates
January 04, 2012

Carlow's Thomas Walsh
Carlow footballers have been dealt a devastating blow with the news that star midfielder Thomas Walsh has been forced to emigrate.
Walsh, who caused huge controversy and divide when he transferred to Mick O'Dwyer's Wicklow in 2007, only to return to his native county in 2010, is currently living in Boston where he is expected to remain for the foreseeable future.
Not only is Carlow manager Luke Dempsey facing the prospect of being without him for Sunday's glamour O'Byrne Cup opener against All-Ireland champions Dublin in Dr. Cullen Park, he is also believed to be planning without him for the rest of the year.
International Rules star Brendan Murphy will be available to face the Dubs, while Derek Hayden and Paul Reid are also back in the fold after missing last year's campaign.
