Parking chaos at DCP

July 08, 2010
There were chaotic scenes at Carlow's Dr Cullen Park on Saturday as Gardai arrived to hand out parking tickets.

While the U8 Go Games were taking place at the county grounds, with kids from 15 clubs involved in the fun activities, the traffic corps turned up to dish out fines to those parents who had left their vehicles on double yellow lines.

This led to a panicked dash as some parents, already feeling the pinch of the recession, ran from the venue to move their cars before a ticket was affixed.

Up to 100 fixed charge 60-euro penalties were issued.

A Garda Sergeant pointed out that it is illegal to park on double yellow lines and that people should abide by the rules of the road.
