Rea says work rate is key

Carlow's Simon Rea
Carlow attacker Simon Rea feels that his side will need to raise their work rate if they are to cause a shock this weekend and knock Derry out of the All-Ireland SFC.

Rea will be one of the key men that Luke Dempsey will be looking to for scores at Dr Cullen Park on Saturday and the Eire Og man has insisted that everyone will need to up their game.

"We were hoping to avoid one or two of the northern teams such as Derry or Donegal," Rea told the Carlow Nationalist.

"You have to approach it like any other game and have a bit of self belief that we can make a run in the qualifiers. In the last six weeks the mood in the camp has been excellent, the training has been excellent and there has been full commitment from everyone. Morale is good."

Rea is also aware that many looking at this fixture are expecting a comfortable Derry win.

"The most important thing is our work rate against Derry. They are in the same boat as us," the Eire Og man said.

"They will not like coming down to Carlow. Not may people are looking at the draw and expecting things from Carlow. From our own camp we have to have our own self belief. We have to set up right and if we apply ourselves right you never know in the qualifiers."
