Carlow football manager Luke Dempsey was wholesome in his praise for his under-21 charges and is keen for them to pick up some silverware this year.

Last weekend, the Barrowsiders saw off the challenge of Offaly in the Leinster championship quarterfinal after extra time and they showed great spirit to win the match in the last minute with a Brendan Murphy wonder goal.

Then last night they saw off the challenge of Kilkenny on a scoreline of 1-16 to 0-3 to book a semi final date with Dublin next week.

"I'm absolutely thrilled and I hope it transfers to every Carlow player be it down to under-14s and minors," Dempsey told the Nationalist. "That's the sort of determination we're trying to cultivate in our county." Tweet
