Hayden apologises for actions
May 28, 2009
Carlow forward Derek Hayden will be welcomed back into the squad following his apology for the way he reacted to being sent off during the Leinster SFC defeat to Louth.
Hayden felt the full wrath of manager Luke Dempsey after the Eire Og player stepped back across the pitch after his dismissal, delaying the match.
However, Hayden felt that his reaction was borne out of frustration at the referee's decision and that he never meant to offend his team mates or manager.
"I talked to Luke and we have no problem with each other. He asked why I walked to the other side of the field and I explained why," said Hayden.
"I wanted to be on my own. That was it. There was nothing else. I was disappointed that I had let a lot of people down. I was talking to the players afterwards and I apologised to anyone of them that I saw."
