Dempsey linked with Carlow return

October 10, 2008

Longford manager Luke Dempsey
Luke Dempsey is a man in demand as he is being heavily linked with a return to the Carlow managerial role in light of Paul Bealin's resignation. The former Longford and Westmeath manager served as Carlow manager in 2004 as he took charge of the side shortly after standing down as Westmeath manager, and led his charges to a famous championship win over Longford. Despite being interviewed for the Meath post, Dempsey is now the odds on favourite to succeed Bealin, who stood down during the week citing personal reasons for his decision. This change of events means that it is likely that Eamon O'Brien is the choice of the Meath county board to take up their vacant role and Dempsey will plump for the job with the Barrowsiders.
