Bust up in SFC

September 04, 2008
The senior football championship clash between Kildavin-Clonegal and Rathvilly was reduced to a farce as a brawl erupted between players from both sides. Up to 20 players were involved in an unsavoury incident and although the match referee was well placed to witness the brawl, there was no one shown the line, when there probably should have been. There have been calls on the county board to enforce the rules more harshly as a number of incidents in clubs matches have got out of control. Also at the weekend, there was a huge scuffle between players, mentors and supporters of both the Mount Leinster Rangers and Kildavin-Clonegal clubs during a minor football B championship clash.
