Junior Camóg's in All Ireland Final
The very best of luck to the Cavan Junior Camogie Team and management Colm Mc Elvoy and Margaret Carroll, who play Monaghan in the Junior B All Ireland final for the Máire Ní Chinnéide Cup. The match is confirmed for Sunday next August 8th at Donaghmore, Ashbourne at 2.30p.m. The Breffni girls will be hoping they can retain the title which they won under manager Eddie Brady in 2009. Best of luck to all involved.

Denn v Laragh
On Sun 1st Aug Junior Championship finalists 2009 Denn, took on Laragh in the first round of the championship on Kilnaleck Pitch. Laragh played a very fast and skilful game from the off and Laragh's Shannon Reilly was on top form popping points over the bar from every angle. Denn tried hard to keep up with this swift young team but at half time Laragh were well ahead with scores from Shannon Reilly, Jenny O'Rourke, Gráinne Power and Arlene Brady. Denn came out in the second half all guns blazing and Siobhan Lynch scored a beautiful goal from play and the Denn players lifted their game with Carmel Galligan and Grainne Kelly leading by example. The talented Arlene Brady from Laragh responded with two more points. Denn's Tina Fitzsimons found the back of the Laragh net near the end of the game but it was not enough against a classy Laragh team. Drumgoon v Ballinagh
Drumgoon and Ballinagh met in Kilnaleck at 12.30 on Sun Aug 1st to battle the first round of the Junior Championship. Both sides started with good attacks as the physicality of the game became apparent. Unfortunately for Drumgoon Jean Gibson took a blow to the knee and went off injured in the first few minutes, she was replaced by Ashling Mc Dermott. Ballinagh opened the scoring with a point from Caroline Galligan. They followed with another from Delource Duffy. Ballinagh had a series of wide's while Drumgoon struggled to get the sliothar up to the full forward line. Caroline Galligan converted a number of frees to the score board. Score at half time six points to Ballinagh one point to Drumgoon. Drumgoon's goadkeeper Caroline Shalvey displayed some great saves to keep Drumgoon in the game but Ballinagh showing great skill in their defensive and offensive play tipped over points both from play and frees. Kathryn McBride got a late goal for Drumgoon but it was too little too late. Final Score Drumgoon 1-1 Ballinagh 0-10. All Ireland Minor C Championship
Cavan -v- Armagh
The Cavan camógs played their first round of the Championship v Armagh last Wednesday in Stradone. Colm McEvoy and Margaret Carroll, Managers for the Panel knew it was to be a hard fought game. Cavan battled well under extreme pressure and the first half score was Cavan 0-5 - points being scored by Jenny O'Rourke and Tina Reilly, Armagh 1-5. The second half proved to be very fast with eight minutes into the game Cavan were level scoring with 1-8, however Armagh were not to be phased by the score and proceeded to show their dominance with scores of a further goal and six points and for Cavan a further point by Sinead McKenna. The final score was Cavan 1-8, Armagh 2-14. Junior League
Castletara v Laragh
The game finally took place in Ballyhaise last Friday evening under the refereeing of Jimmy Welldon. Both teams at times were very evenly matched, with Laragh over the last few years showing a very strong, young and talented team while Castletara still hold an experienced panel of players. The game finished at half time Castletara 0-5, Laragh 0-3. In the second half Laragh were to show themselves and bring their score with a further 6 points and for Castletara 1 goal and 3 points, leaving a final score of Castletara 1-8 Laragh 0-9. Scorers for Laragh Shannon O'Reilly 4 points, Arlene Brady 2 points, Jenny O'Rourke 2 points, Grainne Power 1 point.
U13 and U15 County Development Squads
Kilnaleck was the venue for last weekend's U13 and U15 county development squads. The under 13 squad remains constant but clubs are encouraged to send in U15 players all players must attend. Under 13 dev squad, 1-2.30p.m. Laragh. Under 15 dev squad blitz B's Armagh and Down dev squads. Laragh at 2.30p.m. All girls must attend, a text will be sent out during the week with more details. Ballinagh
Ballinagh made a positive start to their Junior Championship campaign last Sunday, overcoming Drumgoon in Kilnaleck. The girls knew they had their work cut out, having suffered defeat at the hands of Drumgoon in the Junior League. However a strong performance in Ballinagh's defence, with Rebecca Dunne in particularly fine form, fed the ball to sharp shooters Caroline Galligan and Josephine Maguire. The girls used their point scoring skills to notch up an impressive tally of ten points to run out convincing winners. Get Involved! Castletara News
Underage training continues on Wednesday evenings, U14/16 training by text. Club training by text. Good luck to the Castletara girls on the County Junior Panel for the All Ireland next Sunday, Geraldine Mulvanney, Majella Prior, Anne-Marie Fay and Mairead McCabe. Good luck to Roisin Dunne on the U18 County Panel meeting Roscommon.
Drumgoon
Hard luck to the Junior team who lost to Ballinagh in the first round of the championship last week, they now face Denn and Laragh in the next rounds. U14 training every Monday and Wednesday at 7p.m. on the green new players always welcome. U18 and Junior training every Tues at 6.45p.m. and Thurs at 7.30p.m. Best of luck to Carmel Mc Bride, Caroline Shalvey and Margaret Mc Bride all part of the Cavan Junior Squad who play Monaghan in the All Ireland Final this Sunday.
Lacken
The championship fixture between Lacken and Castletara did not take place last Sunday. Training continues as usual this week.
Bailieboro
Under 18 training continues on the school pitch on Wednesday between 5 and 6. We would also like to congratulate our under-14 player Rebecca Farrell who is playing at half time in the All Ireland Hurling Semi final in Croke Park on the 15th of August.
