Inter-County Fixtures 2010
With the 2009 season barely over the inter-county fixtures for 2010 are out, Phelim Macken again takes charge of the Senior and Minors, Phelim will be ably assisted by Seoirse Bulfin who steps in for Donal O'Sullivan for the coming year. This coming year the Senior girls have taken one step back and will challenge for honours in Division 2 of the league and in the Intermediate Championship . The league will see them coming up against the likes of Down, Wexford(B), Waterford and Galway(B) , throw in for this is only 5 weeks away , so the girls will be back on the training pitch very soon.
The victorious Minors have gone up a grade to "A" and will open their campaign after the summer exams with a home tie against an up and coming Dublin team .
Our U16's have a new management team for 2010 , Fixtures Secretary Mike Murphy and Child Officer Ger Mcnamara are taking over for the coming year and they will be in touch with all clubs very soon to get the trials started and the squad out on the training pitch. Best of luck boys for 2010.

The under 8 cluster blitz's took place in 3 venues this year and culminated in a county blitz in mid November , most clubs took part and the coaching and training the girls received will hopefully benefit them for years to come . Well done to Kilmallock , Monaleen and Templeglantine for organising and hosting the cluster blitz's.

Some good displays from our Senior and Junior girls this year but unfortunately not much success . The management team of Phelim Macken , Donal O'Sullivan and James Moynihan put in a major effort , the girls had over 80 sessions together but this did not translate to results . The best game of the year had to be against Clare , when we lost by only the narrowest of margins , for that match the county board took the initative to run some buses and managed with the help of Kilmallock , Bruff , NCW , Templeglantine , Ballybrown and Ahane camogie clubs to fill 3 buses , most of the clubs brought their U12 teams and some friendly matches were organised as well as a parade at half time of the senior game , a great day out was had by all . This show of support seemed to lift the girls , so maybe if more clubs got behind the county setup the results might come . Phelim Macken is in charge again for 2010 , lets all wish him and the girls all the best for the coming year.
The high light of 2009 for limerick camogie has o be the Minor win in the All-Ireland Minor B Championship .
Our minors started 2009 with a narrow defeat to Clare , but took great heart out of the game . A three point loss to a team in the A grade of the all Ireland championship gave Phelim and the girls a good idea of what they could achieve .
First up were the lilywhites at home in Ahane , a tough start to the campaign but a comfortable win in the end . Next saw us take to the road to the capital to face an unknown element in the shape of Down , a great team display from the off made the long journey home a pleasant one . The semi-final paired us with Wexford , a county with a long tradition of camogie it was never going to be easy . Cahir was the venue , with the match timed so we could all head to Thurles to see the hurlers in action , but this was never going to be easy . Wind and rain was the order of the day and maybe the winning of the game was decided when we won the toss . Playing with a gale our girls raced into an early lead , and never looked back , running out seven point winners .
The Final
Limerick captured the 2009 minor B All-Ireland final with a pulsating injury time win over Waterford , five points down and time up , no one could believe the Limerick girls could pull this one out of the bag , but reminiscent of what Offaly did to us in 04 , player of the game Naomi Carroll pulled two balls from the skies over Mallow and crashed both of them past a helpless Waterford keeper .
U16 Inter County

U16 'A' Semi-Final
Tipperary 3-13 , Limerick 3-03
The limerick girls gave a fine display of hurling on Friday evening last. This is the 2nd time these teams have met this year and the Limerick ladies gave a much improved performance. The scoreline does not reflect the dedication and skill of the girls who were unlucky not to have scored more. Well done to the girls and to Donie Neville and Timmy Larkin .
U14 Inter County
Our U14 team got together after a number of trials back in March , forthy girls were chosen to make up two teams for the county .The girls played in a number of blitz's throughout the year , starting of in Limerick 18th April followed by Clare on 2nd May , Cork 30th May , Tipperary 29th August ,Waterford 20th September and the big one in Croke Park on Oct 26th . The girls were well looked after all year and the day out in croke park was the high on point of all their camogie lives thus far. Well done to all involved and to all the parents and club coaches who helped get these girls ready .
Manager Maurice Barrett , Coaches Olive Sheehan ,Donnchadh McCarthy ,Mike Murphy
Schools Inter County
After another successful running of the Eithne Neville Cup , a county Schools team was formed from the four divisional sides , these girls under the management of Timmy Larkin played in the inter-county schools blitz in Mallow. The girls played 8 games , winning 4 , losing 3 , with one draw .Well done Timmy and all the parents hat helped out above in Mallow.
Club Competitions
More games than ever were played in 2009 , great credit must go to the Fixtures Sec. Mike and his committee . At underage 16 different clubs were in the winners enclosure . A big well done to NCW who claimed top honours in the U14,U16 and U18 competitions and to Ballyagran who did the double in U12 and Kilmallock who won the Feile. In the lower divisions it is great to see Monaleen making the break through and claiming their first underage title .
At adult level ,Kileedy again were the dominant force in the senior championship . The girls from the west claimed the 3 in a row at the expense of Granagh-Ballingarry. The senior league was won by Ballyagran earlier in the year , making them hot favourites to claim the championship but their challenge finished at the semi-final stage when Kileedy were just coming into their own . Granagh-Ballingarry were never going to be far away , after losing narrowly to Ballyagran in the league , they setup a mouth watering championship final with a good win over last years runners-up Ahane in the semi's.
Senior Championship Final Kileedy 2-10, Granagh-Ballingarry 1-11
In the intermediate division Murroe-Boher were the club to beat , a good win in the league final over Tournafulla , set them up for a good run in the championship . Knockaderry on the other hand had a quite league campaign , building up a strong squad of players for a crack at the championship . A super game of camogie in the final with the girls from the west edging it narrowly .
Final Knockaderry 1-10 , Murroe-Boher 2-06
In the Junior leagues another team from west limerick dominated from an early stage . Feenagh-Kilmeedy were too good for all opposition in this division , not losing one game they played , a good win in the league was followed by a well deserved win in the championship . Well done to Kilmallock who made a match of it in the championship final , with a team only together for their second season they will go down as a team to watch in 2010 .
Junior Championship Final Feenagh-Kilmeedy 2-11, Kilmallock 2-03
Thanks to Mike Murphy , Superbites and Billy O Brien , for their generous support of our Adult Leagues and Championships In 2009.
Off the field Limerick Camogie clubs and Limerick County Camogie Board came up with some very good initiatives .
In March Mike Murphy and the fixtures committee ran with the idea of making the first half of the u12 league non competitive and developmental , a brilliant idea that helped many clubs and players to develop their talent and skill before they move on to the competitive side of the game .
In April the Feile was organised , it was felt that we should try and send our best team to represent the county , sometimes the best team doesn't always win in a blitz format , so the competition was organised to run over two days in mid april , Sean Collins from adare came on board as sponsor and 12 clubs entered teams , unfortunately the weather played havoc with the fixture but undaunted by this , the fixtures committee got things going again , the early rounds were eventually played in The Staker Wallace's and Garryspillane's new fields with the final played in Ballyagran . Well done to NCW and Kilmallock who entertained a large crowd in the final with some super camogie .
In June WWW.LIMERICKCAMOGIE.COM , Was Launched .
Friday 5th June 2009 @ 09.00 p.m. in Deebert House Hotel Kilmallock Limerick Camogie joined the world wide web .
Another excellent idea and an invaluable tool for Camogie in the county , A big thank you to Kathryn and Noel from Compuweb and to Carmel Burke for Financing the operation . A lot of work went in to and is still going in to this project , all results and fixtures are now only a click away , every club has their own page, so lets all use this to for the advantage and development of camogie in your club and county .
In September we ran our first Fundraising Golf Classic , another marvellous venture by Limerick Camogie . At a special county board meeting on Tuesday June 23rd it was decided that the clubs and county would get together and run a fundraising golf , every single club got behind the venture , enabling Limerick Camogie to stand on its own two feet (financially speaking ) for the first time in a while , every club helped out and most made a profit from the venture .A big thank you to Charleville Golf club for all their help and support .
An annual event ??? it's up to you the club's , it wont just happen there is a lot of work involved .
