Kilcoole Camogie Club News
May 25, 2009
Unplayable pitches in May!! How rare is that? That was the story this week when we lost out on a lot of action because of the Winterlike weather.
The first victim was the U14 game v. Knockananna last Monday. The Cumann na mBunscol Primary Schools Camogie Blitz on Wednesday was next and then on Thursday, the Intermediate game v. Trinity Gaels was rained off.
Summer fortunately arrived by Friday and allowed games go ahead.
the U12s notched up their first League win on Friday against Bray Emmets in a very entertaining game. They tried and tried and tried finally broke through a solid Bray defence to scenes of great jubilation!
The heroines of the day were: Orla Bradshaw, who kept a clean sheet in the goal, Alannah Bellamy (first half), Sinead Roche, Sarah Byrne, Ava Condon, Sophie Meakin , Rachel Finnegan, Sarah Gammell, Sarah Mohan, Orla McLoughlin, Niamh Short and Afnan Hussien. Alannah Bellamy was replaced in the second half by Super Sub Lucy McCabe. Well Done to everybody!
The U10 and U8 Blitzes due to be played on Saturday were postponed for a week.
On Sunday morning the U9s headed off in the Summer sun to play Good Counsel in Drimnagh and put in their best performance to date. Lining out for the U9s were: Eimear Douglas, Amy Byrne, Caitlin O Toole, Lauryn Coughlan, Chloe Byrne, Erica Bellamy and Sara Davis. Emma Davis was an invited guest on the day!
Coming up this week, we have on Wednesday ' The Great Crawl of Kilcoole' when we will do a sponsored Crawl in an effort to part you from some quantitiy of your hard earned cash.... all your contributions are greatly appreciated and will go some way towards ensuring the smooth running of the Camogie Club.
On Thursday, the Intermediates travel to Liffey Gaels for their last game before the Exam Break.
There is no U12 fixture on Friday because of the Bank Holiday. Then on Saturday, the rescheduled U10 and U8 Blitzes take place. The venue is as yet unknown.
Monday June 1st is also free. The U16 and Adult Fixtures stop until the end of June to facilitate School exams.
The best of luck to Rachel Finnegan and Ruth O Toole from St Brigid's GNS who will be part of the group representing Wicklow in the South Leinster Regional Festival of Camogie and Hurling in Bagenalstown on Wednesday.
