Win all that counts for Kernan

Aaron Kernan is hoping Crossmaglen's experience will count for a lot when all is said and done in Saturday's All-Ireland club SFC semi-final against Castlebar Mitchel's.

The Armagh giants are gunning for their first Croke Park appearance since 2012 and Kernan, winner of three Andy Merrigan Cups so far, says that their form during last year's victorious Ulster championship campaign will count for nothing against their Connacht counterparts this weekend.

"There's no form for either team going into it. You can't say we were good in Ulster because it's absolutely irrelevant because it was that long ago," Kernan told The Irish News.

"It will be a matter of who can do the simple things on the day and get back to where you were before Christmas, which isn't always the easiest. To be honest, we would just take any win.

"Ideally, you want to go out and play good football, express yourself and showcase everything that you've worked on. We'd be hoping that the bit of extra experience and know-how we have of closing out these games will play a part."

Throw-in for Saturday's game at Kingspan Breffni Park is at 6.15pm.
