Ronan Clarke says he has been "overwhelmed" by the support he has received from the GAA community over the past week.

The 2002 All-Ireland winning full forward was left in a coma after suffering a serious head injury when he collided with a goalpost while playing for Pearse Og against Maghery in the Armagh SFC nine days ago.

The 32-year-old spent five days in intensive care at Craigavon Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Earlier today, he posted a message on his Facebook page thanking everyone for their support.

"I am completely overwhelmed and heartened by the volume of good wishes on social media from all sections of the community and the concern and sensitivity shown by the press and television," the newly-wed wrote.
