Video: Ulster club MFC: Harps into decider

December 19, 2011

Armagh Harps booked themselves into the Northern Bank Ulster Minor Club Championship final yesterday with a 1-7 to 1-5 win over St John's of Belfast.

The Armagh champions raced out of the traps for this last four clash at Shaw's Road, where they went 0-5 to nothing in front before St John's posted their first score of the match with five minutes to go in the half through Padraig Nugent.

Ryan McShane and Matthew Hynds had done most of the damage for the Harps during the opening half-hour, and in the second-half wing-back Joe McElroy increased their lead.

However, it was St John's that took control over the next 15 minutes as Ronan McCafferty and Matthew Fitzpatrick lashed over points that help cut the deficit to two, but their efforts would prove in vain as a splendid Harps move sent centre-back Conor White through and he smashed to the net with seven minutes to go to help secure victory.

Harps will now face either Watty Graham's of Derry or Cavan champions O'Raghallaigh Gaels in the final, with the semi-final set to be played on Monday next, St Stephen's Day.
