Kernan returns as Ulster boss

December 15, 2011

Joe Kernan
Joe Kernan will resume his role as Ulster football manager for next year's revived inter-provincial series.

The former Armagh All-Ireland winning manager was in charge of the Ulster team which won the last inter-provincial championship to be staged in 2009, and has been a leading advocate of the series formerly known as the Railway Cup.

"The players want it and that's enough for me," Kernan said.

"I'm looking forward to doing my best to make sure it's a big success from an Ulster viewpoint. This competition will work if it gets the right backing."

Leinster have already appointed Sean Boylan and Joe Dooley as their respective football and hurling managers. Ulster face Connacht and Leinster play Munster in the football semi-finals on February 19.
