Armagh want another decade of success
December 12, 2011
Armagh county board chairman Paul Duggan has emphasised that the Orchard County must follow the roadmap of a strategic plan if they are to repeat the success achieved over the last decade.
Armagh have won All-Ireland football titles at all levels from 2002 up until now and at yesterday's county convention in Armagh city, Duggan highlighted the importance of hunger for success and financial stability.
"A fundamental business/organisational principle is that structure follows strategy," Duggan stated. "Therefore, we must ask ourselves: what is the structure that's needed to deliver the Armagh strategy to best effect, and is it relevant as we approach 2012?"
He added: "If we are to move to a higher level of governance it is necessary to develop a committee which would look at financial risk, operational challenges, like health and safety and child protection."
On the rising costs of hurling in the county, the chairman stated: "We acknowledge and welcome the hurling successes and wish them to continue, but we are faced with balancing the need to curb spending against our desire to promote and sustain hurling in Armagh."
