McNulty installed in Laois

As expected, Justin McNulty was appointed as Laois' new football manager last night.

The Mullaghbawn native, who was full back on Armagh's 2002 All-Ireland winning team, received the backing of club delegates to succeed Sean Dempsey at the scheduled county board meeting in Portlaoise.
While no duration for the role was announced, many delegates expressed the hope that McNulty be given time to develop the squad. Laois have fallen well short of the required standard since winning the Leinster title in 2003.

The Dublin-based 35-year-old has management experience with Cavan side Mullahoran and St. Brigid's of Blanchardstown, and was a member of the Armagh backroom team under Paddy O'Rourke this season along with Donal Murtagh and Mike McGurn.
