Ulster U21HC: Orchard too strong for Fermanagh
July 15, 2010
Armagh justified their favourites' tag when they eased past the challenge of Fermanagh in last night's Bord Gais Energy Ulster U21HC quarter-final at Brewster Park.
Armagh 2-19
Fermanagh 2-8
The Orchard County never looked back after corner forward Stephen McArdle scored the opening goal after just two minutes. And with top-scorer Michael Lennon in fine form from placed balls, they went on to lead by 1-10 to 1-3 at the break with the Fermanagh goal coming from corner forward Sean Corrigan.
Whatever hopes Fermanagh had of staging a second half comeback were dashed within three minutes of the restart when a sideline cut from David Carvill went all the way to the net. The game was long over as a contest when midfielder Sean Duffy scored a late consolation goal for the outclassed home side.
