Rackard Cup: Armagh goals sink Sligo

June 26, 2010
Armagh went on a goal-scoring spree at Kingspan Breffni Park yesterday as they booked their place in next weekend's Nicky Rackard Cup final with an emphatic victory over Sligo.

Armagh 5-18
Sligo 1-19

Beaten finalists in 2007, the Orchard County will be aiming to go one better when they face London in Croke Park next Saturday. Goals from Paul Breen, who struck in the second minute, John Corvan and Paul McCormack helped steer the Ulstermen into a commanding 3-11 to 1-6 half-time lead.

Colin Herity's goal from a 20-metre free in the 14th minute proved to be merely academic for the outclassed Yeats County side who never looked like mounting a comeback in the second half. Herity didn't deserve to finish on the losing side after hitting 1-10, but Armagh were stronger overall and further goals from McCormack and Corvan made it comfortable for them in the end.
