O'Rourke hails McDonnell

Armagh's Stephen McDonnell
A masterclass given by Armagh's Stephen McDonnell against Westmeath has prompted Orchard County boss Paddy O'Rourke to hail the seasoned attacker as "one of the top forwards in Ireland for a long time."

McDonnell notched 1-9, all from play, as the Ulstermen overcame Westmeath by 2-19 to 0-8 in their NFL Division Two clash at Crossmaglen.

"Stevie is a very good footballer and has been one of the top forwards in Ireland for a long time," O'Rourke opined.

"He has a great attitude and great ability. He will be one player who will go into the changing rooms now and tell the boys we move onto the next game.

"What Stevie did today was great, but it will count for nothing when the ball is thrown in the next day.

"He has to continue to do it and do it right through the season."
