Murtagh: Orchard pride is back

Armagh selector Donal Murtagh believes the Orchard County have rediscovered their pride.

The northerners produced a battling display against Meath in the first round of the league on Saturday and their second-in-command is backing them to build on that as they host Westmeath in Crossmaglen this Sunday:

"It's early days but at least the players are back playing with a bit of pride in the Armagh jersey.

"That seemed to be missing in the last couple of years. All we asked of the players in the McKenna Cup was to give it their all for 70 minutes.

"Saturday night against Meath was by far and away the best we have seen so far. We competed with a big, strong, physical Meath team who got to an All-Ireland semi-final last year, so there are plenty of positives to take."
