Charity match to raise funds
September 05, 2008
All roads lead to Madden GFC this Saturday (September 6th) as two games will be played in order to raise funds for the Newry Hospice and a host of GAA stars will be on show.
The event begins with an over-35 match at 3.30pm when all the veterans of the past throw on the boots for one more match in what is in aid of a good cause.
In the second game, Ulster club San Francisco will play Madden Raparees and both sides will have inter-county players past and present in their ranks.
The American side will be partly made up of Ulster players that travelled state side to play with them in the past and this includes Down's Brendan McVeigh, Dan Gordon and John Clarke as well as Tyrone's Stephen O'Neill and Kevin Hughes.
Meanwhile, the Madden side will have Kieran McGeeney, Benny Tierney (Armagh), Benny Coulter and Mickey Linden (Down), Peter Canavan (Tyrone), Joe Brolly and Gary Coleman (Derry).
