'Hopefully it's the first of many'

Armagh's Gregory McCabe.

Gregory McCabe is hoping his goal for Armagh against Offaly last Sunday won't be his last.

The centre back hit the net after Ethan Rafferty's initial shot had come back off the crossbar as the Orchard County made it four wins from four in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League.

"I took it nicely, it was a good shot by Raff', he was always going to take the shot, but I just made the stretched run through the middle and thankfully the ball bounced out to me and I just finished it into the back of the net," the Shane O'Neill's clubman told the Newry Democrat.

"I have been doing rightly, that is my first goal for Armagh. It feels great, it is good to get a goal in any game, but my first is a special one and hopefully that is the first of many."

McCabe is settling into the pivotal centre back role in what is his second season on the county panel.

"I do feel comfortable, I played a few games in pre-season last year and then this year too but it is just the boys around me make me feel comfortable in my position," said McCabe.

"I am just happy enough to be playing for Armagh and we want to push on," he added.
