Donnelly handed Championship debut for Saffrons

May 28, 2008
Antrim's managerial team of Terence McNaughton and Dominic McKinley have named their side ahead of this Sunday's Ulster SHC evening clash with Derry in Casement Park. The side sees Cormac Donnelly making his Championship debut at full-forward, which gives the Saffrons a major height advantage on the edge of the square with Donal McNaughton and Michael Herron either side of the big attacker in the two corner-forward positions. Liam Watson has fought off a groin injury to line out at half-forward for the Saffron hurlers and dual player Michael Magill has been rewarded with a position at centre-field after committing to the hurlers following the footballers' exit from the Ulster SFC. Doubts over whether or not Karl McKeegan had been able to play apart against the Oak Leafers due to the late throw-in time of 8pm have been cast aside, as he takes his place at centre-back after making arrangements around his planned business trip to Germany, which he was due to leave for on Sunday night. Antrim (Ulster SHC v Derry): R McGarry; A Graffin, J McKeague, S Delargey (capt); C Herron, K McKeegan, J Campbell; K Stewart, K Magill; P Richmond, L Watson, P Sheils; M Herron, C Donnelly, D McNaughton
