GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail has extended his congratulations and those of the wider Association to Paul Brady and Aisling Reilly on their latest GAA Handball successes.

Ó Fearghail's fellow Cavan man Brady was crowned Men's Open World Handball Champion at the University of Calgary yesterday (Friday) following an impressive 21-8, 21-2 victory over Killian Carroll of Cork.

Antrim's Reilly saw off Catriona Casey in a tiebreaker to retain the Ladies Open title.

"On behalf of the GAA as a whole I would like to offer heartfelt congratulations to both Paul and Aisling on their latest successes," said the GAA President.

"Their respective records and general prominence in the game speaks for itself.

"The assertion that Paul Brady is now the best handballer ever to play the game is difficult to dispute and his success in capturing a fifth consecutive title at this level is something to be marvelled at.

"Their commitment to the game is absolute and their ongoing exploits ensure that the profile of GAA Handball continues to rise. Maith sibh Paul agus Aisling."
