Terence 'Sambo' McNaughton believes last Sunday's dramatic Ulster club SHC semi-final between his Cushendall charges and Slaughtneil was a wonderful advertisement for hurling in the province.
The Antrim and Derry champions will have to meet again on Sunday week (Slaughtneil are involved in the Derry SFC final this weekend against Ballinderry) after extra-time failed to separate them before over 3,000 spellbound spectators at Owenbeg last Sunday.
"We knew it was going to be a tight game," 'Sambo' said in the Ballycastle Chronicle.
"We didn't take our scores and we did some silly things, things we can work on, but it's a young team and they're evolving. A game like that will stand to them.
"It was just a great game. I think the winner here today is hurling. For people who didn't come to watch Ulster hurling, that is as good as you'll get in Ireland.
"We'll not fear Slaughtneil and they'll not fear us. We'll think we can improve, they'll think that they can improve, that's the nature of it. We said coming here it was a 50-50 and that showed."
