"The knives were out for me"

Liam Bradley has delivered a parting shot to the Antrim county board.

Speaking to the Irish News after he stood down as Antrim football manager and was promptly replaced by Frank Fitzsimons, 'Baker' remarked: "I just felt the knives were out for me. That's being honest."

Despite the acrimonious circumstances in which his term ended, Bradley insists he doesn't regret taking the Antrim reins for a second time.

"I don't regret one bit going back," he said.

"While we had a disappointing league campaign, we were able to see who really wanted to commit to the Antrim cause. We had a great victory over Fermanagh.

"We weren't good enough to beat Donegal in the Ulster semi-finals. We lost Ricky and Martin Johnston leading up to that game as their father passed away. That was a terrible blow to everybody.

"I firmly believe had we those two lads we would have put it up to Donegal a lot more in the second half. And everybody knows now how good Donegal are. But the 33 players we had on the panel were absolutely brilliant.

"I just feel sad for them."
