Toughest Job in Antrim Football
February 01, 2012
St. Mary's Rasharkin have just confirmed their Senior football management team for 2012. In what promises to be the toughest season in the clubs history, with their senior footballers having to play all their games away from home, St. Marys have put together a group of coaching staff that will have an unenviable task of keeping the club in Antrims topflight.
Frank Hasson, Dominic Kelly, Paddy Kelly and Paul Hasson have undertaken the role, or drawn the short straw as many other coaches may see it. Frank Hasson, former Antrim stalwart, brings a wealth of footballing know how, Dominic Kelly, originally from St. Endas in Omagh, is known as a strict disciplinarian, Paul Hassons analytical skills for match statistics are second to none, and Paddy Kelly, formerly coaching within the IRFU, complete a line up who are ready for the challenge.
A club spokesperson commented on the appointment " we think these fellas make up a fantastic team to steer our players through a very tough year ahead. There are not many clubs in Antrim that can call on such coaching talent from within their own members".
St Marys finished fourth in Div 1 in 2011 and won the O'Cahan Cup for the first time since 1984 but suffered a heavy defeat to Erins Own , Cargin in the early rounds of the Senior Championship.
