Wallace undecided on Antrim future
July 27, 2010
Jerry Wallace is in no rush to decide on his future as Antrim physical trainer.
The former Cork All-Ireland winning trainer made the long commute to the Glens from his Midleton base this year, but following Antrim's defeat to the Rebels in last Sunday's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final, his future is now up in the air.
"We will wait a couple of weeks and review the situation with the whole management of Antrim," he said.
"Personally, it was a major effort this year to travel up and down the country and I have to factor in my wife and family. It is a big commitment.
"I love it and I am not saying I am going anywhere, but we have to sit down and reasonably consider all that's there."
Wallace says the Antrim players can hold their heads high following their dramatic improvement this summer.
"Antrim people can be very proud of their hurlers this year. In the promotion of the game and in their hurling, they can certainly be proud of these lads.
"They came from ranked 14 in the country to being in the top six on a Sunday in the All-Ireland quarter-finals. That's a positive and there are not many positives today in a recession and things are hard for fellas."
