Michael McClements (Dunloy) tries to stop the progress of Damien Hayes (Portumna) during the AIB All-Ireland club SHC semi-final
Defending champions Portumna eased to a double-scores win over Dunloy at Parnell Park, 2-18 to 0-12.

Joe Canning got five first-half points as the winners coasted to a comfortable 1-10 to 0-5 lead at half time.

Paddy Richmond opened the scoring for the outsiders but Damien Hayes and Canning (3) soon had the champions in the ascendancy.

Sean Downs pulled back a point but the Galway men continued to pile on the pressure and Ciaran Ryan booted the sliothar to the net in the 21st minute as they led by 1-8 to 0-4 after 24 minutes.

Canning, Paul Shields and Gregory O'Kane were amongst the scorers as the first six points of a rather flat second half were shared evenly.

It was 1-17 to 0-11 after 56 minutes, with Andrew Smith getting three for the winners. Then came a second goal (this one from Canning) for the winners who finally pulled clear on the scoreboard.
