It's 30 years ago to the day that Sean Boylan won his first piece of silverware as Meath senior football manager - the Centenary Cup.

The knock-out competition was organised to mark the GAA's centenary year and the Royal County got the better of Monaghan in the final - which was played at Croke Park on May 20th, 1984 - on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-8.

Boylan's charges subsequently flattered to deceive in that year's Leinster SFC but the provincial breakthrough arrived two years later and the rest, as they say, is history!

The winning team against Monaghan was: Jimmy Fay; Robbie O'Malley, Mick Lyons, Paraic Lyons; Padraig Finnerty, Joe Cassells (capt), Martin O'Connell; Liam Hayes, Gerry McEntee; Colm Coyle, Mattie McCabe, Liam Smith; Finian Murtagh, Colm O'Rourke, Bernard Flynn.
