A militant convoy by fed-up Croke Park residents will slow down or stop traffic on the main Cork to Dublin road on the morning of the AI football fina, Cork and not Down are being picked on because Cooney the head of the GAA and also a Cork man won't listen to the residents about their objections at losing their community centre at the back of Croke Park. The GAA are developing the site as a handball arena. kerrykerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1779 - 11/09/2010 11:22:33 771452 Link 0 |
I doubt they can stop up a motorway as i'm sure they would be arrested, also you can't slow up a main road full of traffic as you can be done for obstruction. All this will do is annoy a few Cork Supporters. I often wondered would it have been better to have had Croke Park built in the middle of the country in a place where the locals would appreciate it and work with it. tj09 (Cork) - Posts: 481 - 11/09/2010 11:51:08 771466 Link 0 |
The boss of the Croke Park residents association is a Tipperary man. As someone commented on Rebel GAA, he didn't consider holding his blockade last Sunday! It's a very petty attitude by the Croke Park residents, inconveniencing supporters who have nothing to do with their dispute, and spoiling the day for some of them. This is a disgraceful action, they are only going to spoil the day for Cork supporters. Is this going to affect the GAA presidents travel arrangements, I think not. This project is also reportedly going to provide a significant jobs boost to the area. MB1 (Tyrone) - Posts: 360 - 11/09/2010 14:55:22 771601 Link 0 |

Hilarious that they target the Cork road because Christy Cooney is from Cork. In other words Cork people who have absolutely nothing to do with the guy, are targets of a protest aimed at him. Ridiculous logic. They might as well target Mayo men. Cork is a big county. Most of us don't know him. . Culchie (Cork) - Posts: 799 - 13/09/2010 13:49:45 772928 Link 0 |
